Who is responsible

Tap4Meal is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: privacy@tap4meal.com.

What we collect

  • Account: your name, email and sign-in method.
  • Household and kitchen: inventory items, photos you take of your fridge or pantry, and the ingredients read from them.
  • People you cook for: names, allergens, diets, cuisines, dislikes and spice preference. Allergy and diet data can be health-related and is treated as sensitive.
  • Cook sessions: generated dishes, chosen dishes, plans and shopping lists.
  • Guest responses: the name, allergies, diets and dish preferences a guest submits through a host link.
  • Orders: basket contents, delivery or collection choice, delivery address and contact number, and order status.
  • Consent record: which documents you accepted, which optional consents you gave, the version and the timestamp.
  • Technical: minimal server logs needed to keep the service running and secure.

Why we use it, and our legal bases

  • To run the service (inventory, dishes, plans, lists, orders) — performance of our contract with you.
  • Allergy and diet filtering — your explicit consent, given when you add a person and their sensitive details. This data is used only to filter dishes for your household and is never used for advertising or model training.
  • Security, fraud prevention and service reliability — our legitimate interests.
  • Product analytics — your consent (optional, off by default).
  • Personalised marketing and offers — your consent (optional, off by default). With it off you still see store offers, just not personalised.
  • Improving our recipe and dish-image models — your consent (optional, off by default). See the AI notice.
  • Legal obligations — for example order and tax records.

Who we share it with

  • Hosting and database providers that store the app's data on our behalf.
  • AI providers that generate dish ideas and photos. We send ingredient lists and dietary constraints for the session; we do not send your name, email or account identifiers.
  • Partner retailers when you place an order — the items, your delivery or collection details and your contact number, so they can fulfil it.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers. Sponsored slots are managed by us in our own backend.

International transfers

Tap4Meal is available globally, and our providers may process data outside your country. Where data leaves the UK, EEA or another region with transfer rules, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Household data lives as long as your account. Guest responses are deleted with the cook session. Fridge photos are used to read ingredients and are not kept as a photo library. Order records are kept as long as legally required. Deleting your account deletes your household data.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can access, correct, export or delete your data, withdraw any optional consent at any time, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. In the EEA/UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority. In California and similar US states you can opt out of "sharing" for targeted advertising — we already default this to off — and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.

You can do all of this yourself in the app under People → Privacy & consent, or email privacy@tap4meal.com.

Children

Tap4Meal is not intended for children under 16 (under 13 in any case), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
